The latest patch added Hunts to Eorzea. I think we should share information to help each others enjoy and profit from the hunts rather than curse them. There has been a lot of "hate" surrounding the hunts and hunt groups so let's start with a few tips for successful hunting.
Be knowledgeable. Learn the names of the Elite Marks. There are 3 for each zone, an S rank, A rank and B rank.
Learn the spawn time and conditions. B ranks will spawn about every hour, A ranks will spawn between 3 and 4 hours. S ranks will spawn or can be spawned every 36 hours or 24 hours after maintenance. Some of the S ranks have other spawn conditions. We'll discuss this later.
Learn your map. Usually an announcement of a hunt will come with coordinates. Sometimes a direct teleport into the zone is not the best way. Learn your map coordinates so you don't show up late.
Make a macro to announce when you have found a mark. Or if you don't want to macro, target the mark and type: <t> <pos>
This will announce the name of the mark and its position to whoever you want, your party, Linkshell, or in shout.
Join a LS for hunts. Pay attention to local chat. You may wonder how people know when a "window" is open. Don't worry, it's not cheating. A lot of people run spreadsheets to keep track of kills to know when the marks will spawn.
The marks can spawn any where in the zones, so if you're searching, search everywhere.
Be in a group. You will seldom get full credit for a hunt if you are alone or with a friend. Full groups give you the best chance for full credit. When you arrive at a hunt alone, invite people to your group or ask for an invite. If you want an invite, put your Chocobo away.
Also be aware that people are mean sometimes. Don't let them get to you. Keep at it.
I've heard from a lot of people that they don't want to bother with hunts until SE fixes them. Don't hold your breath, the hunts are working as intended. They can be fun and rewarding if you approach them with the right attitude.

Some of you might wonder why you should hunt at all. The rewards is why. Each kill will reward you with Allied Seals, Myth and Soldiery.
S ranks give 50/200/40
A ranks give 20/80/20
B ranks give 5/30/10
And if you get really lucky, you will also obtain a blood splattered log from the kill. Trade in 3 of these logs for a sand of time or 2 for an oil of time. You can also trade in your allied seals for the blood splattered logs. As well as for minions, gear and other various items.
Please add any suggestions, hints, tips....anything you've got. Let's make hunts fun and profitable for everyone!
